Chuck Wagon Beans

Ingredients

  • 2 slices bacon
  • 3 lb. ground beef
  • 3 c. finely chopped onions
  • 1 c. finely chopped celery
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • 2/3 c. boiling water
  • 1 1/2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 1/2 c. ketchup
  • 3 Tbsp. mustard
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • dash of pepper
  • 2 large size cans molasses-type baked beans (if you can't find these, add 2 1/2 Tbsp. molasses)
  • 2 or 3 Tbsp. barbecue sauce

    Preheat oven to 375°.

    In large roasting pan or Dutch oven, fry bacon until crisp.

    Set aside.

    Drain fat from pan.

    In same pan, cook and stir ground beef, onion and celery until meat is brown and onion is tender.

    Dissolve bouillon cubes in boiling water and add remaining ingredients into meat mixture.

    Cover and bake 1 hour.

    Crumble bacon over beans before serving.
