Cinnamon Candy

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/2 c. light Karo syrup
  • dash of salt
  • 1/2 to 1 tsp. cinnamon oil (1 1/2 tsp. for very hot)
  • red food coloring

Directions

    Cook the first 4 ingredients on medium-high heat.

    Stir and cook to 250°.

    Put in food coloring to desired color and continue cooking to 280°.

    Take off heat and let temperature rise to 300°. Put in the cinnamon oil.

    I put on a cookie sheet covered with powdered sugar.

    Score with spatula (or I use a pizza cutter) before it gets too hard to cut.

    Allow to cool, then put in airtight container.
