Ingredients

  • 5 to 5 1/2 c. flour, divided
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar, divided
  • 2 pkg. Rapid Rise yeast
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 3/4 c. butter, divided
  • 2 eggs, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. chopped dates
  • 1 c. powdered sugar (optional)
  • 1 to 3 Tbsp. milk (optional)

Directions

    Combine 2 cups flour, 1/2 cup sugar, yeast and salt.

    Heat water, 1/2 cup milk and 1/2 cup butter until very warm (125° to 130°).

    Stir into dry ingredients.

    Mix in eggs and enough remaining flour to make a soft dough.

    Knead on floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 4 to 6 minutes.
