  • 10 large pears, peeled and sliced
  • 2 c. water
  • 3 c. vinegar
  • 2 pkg. red hots
  • 1 c. powdered lime
  • 1 gal. water
  • 1 Tbsp. alum
  • 5 c. sugar
  • 8 sticks cinnamon

Directions

    Peel pears and slice in half rounds or spears.

    Soak overnight in 1 gallon water and lime.
  3. 3
    Next morning, drain, rinse and soak in clear water for 4 hours.
