- 6 medium onions, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 6 cups beef broth
- 1 tsp. sugar
- dash nutmeg
- 6 slices toasted French bread
- 3/4 cup mozzarella cheese
Directions

1Saute onions in butter and oil until tender.

2Add broth, sugar and nutmeg.

3Bring to boil.

4Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 10 minutes.

5Ladle into baking dish.

6Top with bread and 2 Tbsp. cheese.

7Bake at 300 degrees for 10 minutes.

8Makes 9 cups.
