- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. oleo
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 5 eggs, separated
- 1 tsp. soda
- 2 c. flour
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 2/3 c. coconut
Directions

1Blend shortening and oleo together in large mixing bowl on medium speed.

2Gradually add sugar.

3Beat until fluffy.

4Add egg yolks, one at a time.

5Beat well.
-
6Sift flour and soda.
-
7Add gradually to mixture alternating with buttermilk.

8Begin and end with flour.
-
9Add coconut.
-
10Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Fold into batter.

11Pour into 3 greased and floured pans.

12Bake at 350° for 20 to 25 minutes.

13Cool and frost.
