- 2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2/3 c. butter or shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 3 eggs, unbeaten
- 1/3 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Sift flour once.

2Measure, add baking powder and salt and sift together three times.

3Cream butter thoroughly.

4Add sugar gradually and cream together until light and fluffy.

5Add eggs, one at a time, beating very thoroughly after each.

6Add flour, alternately with milk, a small amount at a time, beating well after each addition.

7Add vanilla.

8Bake in two greased 9-inch layer pans in moderate oven (375°) 25 to 30 minutes.

9Spread frosting between layers and on top and sides of cake.

10Use coconut frosting.
