  • 1 12 cups shredded salt cod fish
  • 1 12 cups hot water
  • 2 cups hot mashed potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons minced onions
  • 12 teaspoon allspice
  • 12 cup flour
  • oil or shortening (for frying)
  • tomato sauce
  • Coleslaw

    Soak the codfish in hot water for 3 mins.

    drain and with hands squeeze as dry as possible.

    (codfish will expand when wet, but after squeezing it packs back into about 1 1/2 cups.

    In a bowl mix together the codfish and potatoes, butter, onion, and spice.

    Blend well.

    with hands shape into 1 and 1/2 inch bowls.

    roll balls in flour .

    heat oil or shortening to temp of 375 degrees .

    Fry for 1-2 mins or until balls are golden brown all over.

    drain on paper towels and serve with tomato sauce and coleslaw.
