- 1 c. strong coffee
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. cream
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/2 tsp. almond extract or 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 c. broken pecans or hickory nuts
Directions

1Bring to a boil in large, heavy pan.

2Remove from heat until dissolved:

3sugar, cream, butter, salt and cream of tarter.

4Cook, stirring constantly, until boiling.

5Cover and cook 3 minutes. Uncover and cook over moderate heat.

6Add almond extract or cinnamon.

7Beat until mixture starts to harden.

8Add nuts.

9Pour onto buttered surface.

10Permit the candy to cool and harden before cutting into squares.
