  • 1 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1 c. sweet milk
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 c. plain Red Band flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. walnut flavoring
  • 1 tsp. butternut flavoring
  • 1 1/2 c. black walnuts

    Cream sugar, butter and Crisco together.

    Add eggs, beating after each addition.

    Add milk alternating with flour.

    Add walnuts that have been blended.

    Beat for 8 to 10 minutes at high speed.

    Put in cold oven and bake at 350° for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
