- 2 cups unbleached flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 12 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 12 cup cold butter, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 23 cup half-and-half, plus
- 2 -3 tablespoons half-and-half
Directions

1Preheat oven to 450*.

2Combine flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and cream of tartar in food processor bowl.

3Add butter and process until mixture resembles cornmeal.

4Transfer mixture to a bowl and stir in 2/3 cup half-and-half, adding more if dough seems dry.

5Mix gently and knead 5 or 6 times.

6Pat out to 1/2 inch thickness on lightly floured board, band cut into round or square biscuits.

7Bake on parchment-lined cookie sheet for 10 minutes.
