  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 12 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 12 cup cold butter, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 23 cup half-and-half, plus
  • 2 -3 tablespoons half-and-half

    Preheat oven to 450*.

    Combine flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and cream of tartar in food processor bowl.

    Add butter and process until mixture resembles cornmeal.

    Transfer mixture to a bowl and stir in 2/3 cup half-and-half, adding more if dough seems dry.

    Mix gently and knead 5 or 6 times.

    Pat out to 1/2 inch thickness on lightly floured board, band cut into round or square biscuits.

    Bake on parchment-lined cookie sheet for 10 minutes.
