Ingredients

  • 5 (16 ounce) cans red beans
  • 1 1/2 cups barbecue sauce, see recipe for FAT CAT Spicy sauce, but your own is fine
  • 1 cup catsup
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup beer
  • 1/2 cup apple cider
  • 1 onion, chopped fine
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Directions

    Drain beans.

    In a dutch oven fry bacon till crisp, do not drain grease, and add 2 tbsp olive oil.

    Add onion, and soften (about 5 minutes).

    Add garlic.

    Add drained beans and all other ingredients.

    Simmer 2 hours at least before serving (1 hour covered, 1 hour uncovered).
