  • 2/3 c. shortening
  • 1 (1 lb.) box brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 3/4 c. plain flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. nuts
  • 1 (16 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips

    Grease and flour a 9 x 13-inch pan.

    Preheat oven to 350°. Cream shortening and sugar.

    Add eggs one at a time; beat well. Sift flour, baking powder and salt.

    Add to creamed mixture.

    Stir in nuts and chocolate chips.

    Spread in pan.

    Bake for 25 to 30 minutes.

    Let cool in pan.
