- 2 3/4 c. sifted flour
- 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2/3 c. shortening
- 1 whole pkg. brown sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 c. nuts
- 6 oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate bits
Directions

1Melt brown sugar and shortening in top part of double boiler. Mix flour, baking powder and salt.

2Add to this the shortening and sugar mixture, then add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

3Next, add chocolate bits and nuts.

4Spread mixture in a 9 x 13-inch pan.

5Bake in a 350° oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
