Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 c. boiling water
  • 1 c. uncooked oatmeal
  • 1 c. brown sugar, packed lightly
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 stick butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 3/4 c. unsifted flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. Hershey's unsweetened cocoa
  • 1/2 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
  • 3/4 c. chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips

Directions

    Pour boiling water over oatmeal.

    Let stand 10 minutes.

    Add brown sugar, sugar and butter to mixture; stir until butter melts. Add eggs, mixing well.

    Sift together the flour, baking soda, salt and cocoa and add to mixture.

    Add 1/2 package chocolate chips. Pour batter into a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan.

    Sprinkle walnuts and 1/2 package chocolate chips over batter.

    Bake at 350° for 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
