- 1/2 cup, plus 2 tablespoons, wild rice
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 6 tablespoons finely chopped onion
- Salt to taste, if desired
- Freshly ground pepper to taste
- 2 cups water or chicken broth
Directions

1Rinse and drain the rice.

2Heat the butter in a saucepan and add the onion.

6Add the water or chicken broth and bring to the boil.

7Cover closely and let simmer 30 to 45 minutes or until the rice ''blooms'' and is tender.
