- 2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp. ginger
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 c. molasses
- granulated sugar (to roll balls in)
Directions

1Measure sifted flour, ginger, soda, cinnamon and salt into sifter.

2Sift 2 or 3 times.

3Cream shortening in medium size bowl. Add sugar gradually, creaming well.

4Beat in eggs and molasses. Add dry ingredients, mixing well.

5Form teaspoons of dough into balls.

6Roll balls in sugar, covering entire surface.

7Place 2-inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.

8Bake at 350° for 12 to 15 minutes or until tops are lightly browned.

9Remove from pans. Cool completely.

10Store in airtight container.
