- 1/4 c. sugar
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1 c. yellow cornmeal
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. milk
- 1/4 c. shortening
Directions

1Sift flour with sugar, baking powder and salt.

2Stir in cornmeal.

3Add eggs, milk and shortening.

4Beat with rotary or electric beater until just smooth.

5Pour into greased 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan or 10-inch iron skillet.

6Bake at 425° for 20 to 25 minutes.
