  • 1 c. plain flour
  • 1 c. cornmeal (coarse)
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 c. salad oil or bacon drippings
  • 3/4 c. milk

Directions

    Combine flour, meal, baking powder and salt.

    Add egg, oil and milk; beat well.

    Grease 8 or 9-inch pan with bacon drippings. Grease pan well.

    Heat pan in 450° oven until hot.

    Pour batter in and bake 20 to 25 minutes.

    Serves 6 to 8.
