- 1/2 cup cornmeal yellow
- 6 each frankfurters (hot dogs)
- 1/2 cup flour, all-purpose
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 each eggs lightly beaten
- 1 tablespoon vegetable shortening melted
- 6 each skewers or sticks
Directions

1Combine the cornmeal, flour, sugar, mustard, baking powder and salt, mixing well.

2Add the milk, egg and shortening, mixing until very smooth.

3Pour the mixture into a tall glass.

4Put the frankfurters on sticks.

5Dip them into the cornmeal batter to coat them evenly.

6Deep fry in oil heated to 375F (190C) until golden brown, about two minutes.

7Drain on paper towels.
