Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. yellow cornmeal
  • 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
  • 10 to 16 hot dogs
  • 1 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. evaporated milk
  • 1/4 tsp. paprika
  • dash of pepper
  • vegetable oil for deep frying

Directions

    In bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, egg, paprika, dry mustard and pepper.

    Pour mixture into a tall glass. Skewer hot dogs with wooden skewer.

    Dip into mixture.

    Deep fry at 375° until golden brown (about 2 minutes).

    Drain on paper towel.

    Yields 10 to 16 corn dogs.
