- 12 each frankfurters (hot dogs) skinless
- 13 cup cornmeal
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 x vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup flour, all-purpose
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon vegetable shortening
- 1 each eggs
Directions

1Sift together dry ingredients.

2Cut in shortening.

3Combine milk and eggs, beating slightly.

4Pour into flour mixture.

5Stir until smooth.

6For dipping FRANKS, pour batter into tall glass or spread in shallow pan.

7Add sticks, making a handle, or hold FRANKS with tongs.

8Coat FRANKS with batter.

9Drop battered-FRANKS into hot oil, cooking until golden on all sides.

10Drain, serve hot with mustard.
