- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 1/3 cup water
- 3 tablespoons bacon drippings
Directions

1Combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt, mixing well. Dissolve soda in buttermilk; add to cornmeal mixture, stirring well. Add remaining ingredients; mix well.

2Spoon batter into a well greased 8 1/2- x 4 1/2- x 3-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350° for 1 hour or until golden brown.
