- 2 c. self-rising meal
- 1 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. flour (self-rising)
- pinch of salt
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
Directions

1Mix dry ingredients; add buttermilk.

2Heat shortening in loaf pan until very hot.

3Add batter and bake at 350° for 1 hour. Remove from oven and let cool in pan for 30 minutes.

4Serve either hot or cold.

5This is good with ham, barbecue or spareribs. Makes 1 loaf.
