- 2/3 c. sugar
- 1/3 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 2 eggs
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°.

2Grease 8 x 8-inch pan.

3Sift dry ingredients together.

4Add shortening, half of buttermilk and 1 egg.

5Beat 2 minutes.

6Add remaining egg and buttermilk; beat 2 minutes more.

7Pour all batter at once time into pan.

8Bake 45 to 50 minutes.

9Muffin tins, bake 25 minutes.
