- 1 1/2 c. self-rising flour
- 1/2 c. cornmeal
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 3/4 c. milk
Directions

1Heat oven to 450°.

2Stir together flour and cornmeal.

3Cut in shortening until mixture looks like meal.

4Stir in milk to make soft dough.

5Round up on lightly floured board (or wax paper). Knead lightly.

6Roll or pat out to 1/4 to 1/2-inch thick.

7Cut into biscuit or diamond shapes with floured knife.

8Place on ungreased baking sheet, close together for biscuits with soft sides or 1 inch apart for crusty sides.

9Bake 12 to 15 minutes.
