  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. cocoa (Hershey's)
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 6 Tbsp. liquid shortening
  • 1 c. cold water

Directions

    Sift flour, sugar, cocoa, salt and baking soda into 9 x 9-inch pan.

    Make 3 holes in the mixture and add vanilla, vinegar and liquid shortening mixture.

    Then pour cup of water over entire mixture.

    Mix with fork until smooth.

    Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes or until center springs back.

    Serve plain or with whipped cream on top.
