- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature, plus more if needed
- 6 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 4 1/2 cups confectioners sugar, plus more if needed
Directions

1In the bowl of an electric mixer set on medium speed, beat together the butter, cream cheese, and vanilla until very smooth.

2Add 2 1/4 cups of the confectioners sugar and beat well.

3Add the remaining 2 1/4 cups sugar and beat until creamy and spreadable.

4If too thick, add a bit more butter.

5If too thin, add a little more confectioners sugar.

6Store in an airtight container, in the refrigerator, for up to 3 days.
