  • 4 Tablespoons Flour
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1/2 cups Shortening
  • 1 dash Salt
  • 1/2 cups Butter
  • 1-1/4 cup White Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Directions

    Cook the flour and milk in a saucepan over medium-high heat until thick, stirring constantly. Once it thickens, remove it from the heat and cool it completely by placing it in the refrigerater or placing pan in an ice bath and stirring until cooled.

    In another bowl, beat the shortening, salt, butter, sugar, and vanilla together until fluffy.

    When the cooked mixture is cooled, gradually add it to the beaten mixture and continue to beat until white and fluffy.
