- 2/3 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. cornstarch or 5 Tbsp. flour
- 2 1/2 c. milk
- 3 slightly beaten egg yolks
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Combine sugar, cornstarch or flour and salt in the top of a double boiler; stir in cold milk.

2Cook over boiling water until thickened, stirring constantly.

3Cover and cook 15 minutes longer. Stir a little of the hot mixture into slightly beaten egg yolks. Add to remaining mixture in double boiler and cook for two minutes over hot, not boiling, water, stirring constantly.

4Cool and add vanilla, then put in an 8-inch baked pie shell.

5Spread meringue over filling and bake 10 minutes at 400°.
