- 1/2 c. butter or shortening
- 1 c. water
- 1 c. flour
- 4 eggs
Directions

1Put shortening and water in 2-quart saucepan and bring to boil. Add flour and cook until thick, stirring constantly.

2When mixture gathers into a mass, remove from range and place into mixing bowl. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each egg.

3Place in mound on greased cookie sheet about 1 1/2-inches apart.

4Bake 40 to 45 minutes at 400°.

5Remove from pan.

6Place puffs on wire rack to cool.

7Take a sharp knife and slit a small hole in base of puff. This permits steam to escape and keeps puff from falling.
