  • 3 1/2 to 3 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/4 c. warm water
  • 1 1/2 c. warm milk, scalded, then cooled
  • 1 egg

Directions

    Mix 2 cups flour, sugar, shortening, salt and yeast in 2 1/2-quart bowl.

    Add water, milk and egg.

    Stir in enough remaining flour to make dough easy to handle.

    Knead 5 minutes. Place in bowl, cover and let rise for 1 hour.
