  • 2 c. coarsely chopped walnuts
  • 1 c. granulated sugar
  • 1/2 c. light corn syrup
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking soda

Directions

    Place walnuts in 9-inch glass pie plate.

    Microwave at High 5 minutes, stirring halfway through until toasted; set aside.

    In 2-quart glass measuring cup with handle, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, butter and salt.

    Microwave at High 5 to 6 minutes, stirring well at least once until sugar dissolves.

    Microwave at High 4 1/2 to 7 minutes, stirring once after 2 minutes until mixture reaches 300°.

    Stir in baking soda; add toasted walnuts. Turn at once into buttered 15 x 10-inch jelly roll pan.

    Spread thin.

    Let stand until cooled.
