Crispy Fried Mushrooms

- 8 oz. whole, fresh mushrooms
- 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. dry mustard
- 1/4 tsp. paprika
- dash of pepper
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- Crisco oil for frying
Directions

1Wash mushrooms and trim stems slightly; set aside.

2Mix flour, salt, mustard, paprika and pepper in a large plastic bag; set aside.

3Place buttermilk in a small bowl.

4Dip a few mushrooms in bowl.

5Place in bag with flour mixture.

6Shake to coat.

7Heat 2 to 3 inches Crisco oil in deep fryer or heavy saucepan to 375°.

8Fry a few mushrooms at a time for 2 to 3 minutes or until deep golden brown, turning several times.

9Drain on paper towels.

10Serve hot. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
