- cucumbers (very fresh)
- plain salt
- alum
- vinegar (I use white)
- 9 c. sugar
- pickling spice
Directions

1Fill a gallon jug with sliced cucumbers (about 1/4 inch thick).

2Add one cup plain salt and water to fill jug.

3Soak 4 days.

4Wash and soak 24 hours in two tablespoons of alum and water to cover cucumbers.

5Wash and cover with vinegar for 10 days. Wash and add 3 cups sugar each day for 3 days.

6Add pickling spice in a cloth (however much you like).

7May be put in pint jars or left in gallon jug.
