  • 1 (2 1/2 lb.) frying chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 c. oil
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 inch oil for frying
  • 2/3 c. water
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 3/4 ??? regular flour

    Beat together egg, water and 1/4 cup Crisco oil.

    Add sugar, salt and flour; mix until smooth.

    Dip chicken one piece at a time into batter.

    Fry for about 25 to 30 minutes in an uncovered skillet which contains 1/2 inch of oil, heated to 365° to 375°. Turn chicken often for even browning.
