- 4 oz. medium oatmeal
- 2 oz. sugar
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 4 oz. margarine, lard or clarified dripping
- 2 oz. syrup
- vanilla flavoring
Directions

1Cream together the fat, sugar and syrup.

2Add flour, oatmeal, baking powder and a few drops of vanilla.

3Knead until the mixture binds.

4Roll out about 1/4-inch thick; cut into rounds or fingers. Bake in moderate oven until golden brown, for about 20 minutes. These biscuits keep well stored in airtight tins.
