- oil for frying
- 2/3 c. yellow cornmeal
- 6 Tbsp. flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/2 c. milk
- 2 Tbsp. dill pickle liquid
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 4 medium dill pickles, cut into spears or about 16 spears, well drained
Directions

1Heat 1 inch oil in heavy skillet to 400°.

2In bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder and garlic powder; stir in milk, pickle juice and egg.

3Dip pickles in batter to coat.

4Fry in small batches, 2 minutes or until brown, turning once.

5Remove with slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

6Makes 16 spears.
