Ingredients
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 5 c. flour
- cornmeal
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in 2 cups lukewarm water in large mixing bowl. Add salt and sugar, mixing well with a wooden spoon.

2Beat in enough flour, 1 cup at a time, to form a smooth ball that cleans side of bowl.

3Cover and set in warm place free of drafts for 1 1/2 hours or until double in size.

4Stir down, then turn out on lightly floured board.

5Knead a few turns, then cut in half.

6Shape each half in a loaf pan.

7Sprinkle cornmeal over loaves.

8Let rise 5 minutes, then slice tops in 4 places with sharp knife.

9Brush with water and put in cold oven with pan of boiling water on bottom rack.

10Bake at 350° until golden brown.
