- 2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 Tbsp. granulated sugar
- 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. cold butter or margarine, cubed
- 1/2 c. currants
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
Directions

1In large bowl, stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, soda and salt.

2Using pastry blender or two knives, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

3Stir in currants.

4Add buttermilk to mixture all at once, stirring with a fork to make soft, slightly sticky dough.
