Danish Apple Cake

- 3 lb. apples (not too sweet)
- 10 oz. sugar
- 10 oz. dried bread crumbs
- 7 oz. butter
- 1/4 to 1/2 pt. whipping cream
Directions

1Peel and halve the apples, removing the core.

2Slice thinly, do not place in water to preserve the color.

3Grease on ovenproof dish and line with a layer of bread crumbs.

4Dot with lumps of butter, sprinkle with sugar to taste and cover with a thick layer of apples.

5Repeat until all is used up, finishing with a layer of bread crumbs.

6Press well together, dot with butter and bake at 330° for about 30 minutes until the apples are cooked through. Cool and turn out of the form, decorating with whipped cream when quite cold.

7The apple cake may also be served lukewarm with whipped cream.
