  • 1 c. sifted flour
  • 1/2 c. butter or oleo
  • 2 Tbsp. water
  • 1/2 c. butter or oleo
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 Tbsp. almond flavor
  • 1 c. sifted flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3 eggs

Directions

    Mix the first 3 ingredients like pie crust (pea size chunks). Divide dough in half.

    Pat dough with hands to form 2 long (12 x 3-inch) strips on cookie sheet 3-inches apart.

    Mix butter and water in saucepan; bring to rolling boil.

    Add flavoring; remove from heat.

    Add at once the flour and salt.

    Stir quickly to form dough.

    When smooth, add eggs, stirring constantly.

    Beat until smooth and velvety.

    Spread half of mixture over each.

    Bake at 350° for 1 hour.
