- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 c. water (lukewarm)
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. brown sugar
- 3 1/2 c. warm water
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 3 c. whole wheat flour
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 5 c. white flour or more
Directions

1Soak yeast and sugar for 15 minutes in water.

2Add remaining ingredients and 2 cups white flour.

3Beat 5 to 10 minutes with mixer.

4Stir in rest of flour, enough to make a not too stiff bread dough.

5Knead.

6Place in greased bowl and cover.

7Let rise until double in bulk.

8Punch down.
-
9Let rise again.
-
10Shape into loaves.

11Let rise and bake at 375° until done, about 45 minutes.
