- 2 c. sifted flour
- 2 c. white sugar
- 1 c. cocoa
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- pinch of salt
- 6 Tbsp. Crisco
- 2 c. hot water
- 2 eggs
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°.

2Grease and flour a 9 x 13-inch cake pan or Bundt pan.

3Sift first 5 ingredients together in large mixing bowl.

4Melt Crisco in 2 cups hot water.

5Beat eggs in medium size bowl.

6Continue to beat slowly while pouring liquid slowly into eggs.

7Pour liquid through sieve into dry ingredients.

8Add vanilla.

9Mix until well blended.

10Bake for approximately 45 to 60 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

11Frost with fluffy white icing.

12Garnish with crushed peppermint stick (optional).
