- 1/2 lb. chopped dates
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 1/2 c. boiling water
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 c. walnuts, chopped
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 eggs
Directions

1Pour boiling water over chopped dates and baking powder and set aside to cool.

2Beat egg yolks and sugar and add to cool dates.

3Add flour, nuts, vanilla and salt; mix well.

4Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.

5Bake in loaf pan (8 x 4 x 2-inch) in 350° oven for 1 hour or more.
