  • 1 c. dates, chopped
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 c. walnuts, chopped
  • dash of salt

Directions

    Mix dates, raisins and baking soda in boiling water.

    Set aside to cool.

    Beat the eggs and sugar together in a bowl.

    Add the date mixture, flour, walnuts and salt.

    Mix well.

    Grease 4 vegetable cans (1 pound size).

    Half fill the cans with batter. The batter will rise over cans while baking.

    Wrap in foil.

    Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.
