- 2 eggs
- 2 c. white sugar
- 2 Tbsp. butter or oleo
- 2 1/4 c. sifted flour
- pinch of salt
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 1 c. chopped dates
- 2 c. boiling water
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 tsp. baking soda
Directions

1Boil water and remove from stove.

2Add dates and soda.

3Let stand.

4Beat butter and sugar.

5Add eggs and beat.

6Add vanilla, then dry ingredients.

7Mix well.

8Add date mixture and nuts.

9Fill greased and floured pans half full.

10Bake 1 hour at 350°.

11Makes 2 loaves, 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2-inch pans.
