- 1 egg
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. dates, seeded and cut in pieces
- 1 c. nuts, chopped
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1 c. flour
Directions

1Beat egg and add sugar gradually.

2Add milk; blend in the flour to which has been added the baking powder.

3Mix dates and nuts together with part of the flour.

4Add to cake mix with vanilla. Pour into an oiled baking dish and bake about 30 minutes in moderate oven.

5When sufficiently baked, remove from pan and place on rack for a few minutes.

6Cut the cake into halves.

7Then cut each half into narrow strips about 1-inch wide and 4 1/2 inches long.

8Roll each strip in powdered sugar and store in a tightly covered box.
