- 1 (7 1/2 oz.) pkg. dates, cut thin
- 3/4 c. water
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 sq. margarine
- 2 1/2 c. oatmeal
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 3/4 tsp. soda
- 1/2 c. walnuts
Directions

1Boil first 3 ingredients until light thickness.

2Mix together. In middle add 1/2 cup walnuts (cut small).

3Mix in dry ingredients. Add 1 1/2 squares margarine or butter.

4Mix by hand.

5Pour 2/3 of this preparation in square pan, about 9-inch square or 6 x 10-inches.

6Add dates on oatmeal preparation.

7Press evenly and add walnuts cut in pieces; press also.

8Add rest of mix on top.

9Press again.
-
10Bake 30 minutes at 325°.

11Let cool.

12Cut into bars.
