  • 2 c. boiling water
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 c. chopped pitted dates
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1 c. brown sugar, packed
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 4 c. flour

Directions

    Combine first 4 ingredients. Cook, stirring constantly, 4 minutes. Cool completely. Cream butter and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat until fluffy. Add flour, alternating with date mixture. Mix well. Bake in greased and floured tins at 325° for 50 minutes to 1 hour.
